Last call before the season changes and we get into the wet Fall and freeze of Winter.

SEAL:

  • Check for gaps and cracks where wind and water can penetrate.
  • Replace weather strip around doors.
  • Caulk around windows.
  • Seal “windy” electrical outlets.
  • Insulate “drafty” ceiling pot lights.

PATCH:

  • Plug cracks in concrete walkways, patios, and stairs to keep water from doing more damage as it freezes.
  • Have a bay window? Even if it’s covered with shingles, make sure the steel cap & flashing is tarred and caulked.
  • Fill driveway potholes & cracks to extend its life past winter.

PROTECT:

  • Turn off the outdoor faucet at the inside source & invest in a Styrofoam Faucet Protector (less than $5.00) to lessen the effects of freezing weather.
  • Clean out the eavestrough so melt water flows off the roof and doesn’t freeze to cause an ice dam.
  • Check the roof for missing or loose shingles.
  • Remove lint build-up at outside dryer vent screen and vacuum dryer vent duct.
